An email just received from the Ellis campaign:
Dear Friends & Supporters,
I want to express my gratitude for your support on primary day. We came close to doing what so many thought could not be done. Because of people like you, our campaign nearly unseated a deeply entrenched mayor with the connections and influence that allowed us to be out-spent by more than 5-to-1. And with your help, we were able to prove that political change in Albany is possible.
I cannot predict what the future will bring, but I can assure you of one thing - the race to determine the next mayor of Albany is not over. Not by a long shot. And as I said on primary night, I do not feel defeated. We captured 44% of the vote with an all-volunteer campaign. We have come so far but this campaign will continue only if we have the financial support of voters like you.
In the 2005 election, 8,000 more people came out to vote in the general election than voted in the primary. To win this election we need to reach those additional voters and that is going to take money. I am asking you to donate to my campaign. With your help, we can change the city of Albany. I look forward to serving you as the next mayor of Albany.
Sincerely yours,
Corey Ellis
